About Jacqueline Wanjiku Gathungu:
When Jacqueline Wanjiku Gathungu started singing:
I started singing when I was five years old. According to my father, the first time I sang was at a shopping center when I spontaneously started singing "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. I had only heard it once that day when my parents took us to watch the "Titanic" in the cinema, so I barely knew the words. But despite that, my singing took everyone by surprise—I sang so well that the entire shopping center started clapping for me when I finished! That moment made my father realize my potential, and he decided to start teaching me how to sing and play the piano. That was when I truly understood that I had the gift of singing.
What inspired Jacqueline Wanjiku Gathungu to pursue music as a career/passion:
My father inspired me to pursue music because he was a singer and pianist when he was young. Watching him play and sing sparked my love for music from an early age. Beyond that, music has always been like therapy for me. Whenever I felt down, I would play the piano and write a new song, which helped me express my emotions and find comfort. Over time, music became more than just an interest—it became my passion. It has helped me overcome many challenges in life, and that deep personal connection is what drives me to keep singing and sharing my music with the world.
Jacqueline Wanjiku Gathungu's music genre:
I specialize in R&B (Rhythm and Blues) because it allows me to express deep emotions through smooth melodies, soulful vocals, and meaningful lyrics. R&B blends rich harmonies with storytelling, creating a strong connection between the artist and the audience. I love how the genre gives me the freedom to showcase both vocal technique and raw emotion, making every performance memorable.
